I love a good pair of white jeans, but they can be a bit tricky to wear. Sometimes they’re not flattering and you have to be careful where you’re sitting. I get a lot of questions about how to wear white jeans, so I’ve put together a guide to help you out with style tips, outfit ideas, and outfit inspiration.

Also, remember this shopping tip when you’re buying new jeans, white or not. If you can’t tell in 20 seconds if they look good on you, they don’t look good on you. You’ll know right away if they’re perfect!

If you ever find yourself asking yourself, “how do I wear white jeans?”, keep reading and use it as inspiration. You can also pin your favourite white jeans outfits for future reference.

Wearing white jeans isn’t the easiest thing in the world, especially if you’re a curvy woman. White jeans often make you look wider than you actually are because they’re so light in color. Don’t worry though, we’ve got you covered! Follow our style tips below to find out how to wear white jeans with confidence!

1. The fit of the white jeans should be perfect

Don’t go too tight, don’t go baggy. The skinny ankle pant is a must-have if you can pull it off, but for the most part, women should stick with a mid-rise straight-leg denim jean. If you’re looking for something a bit more classic for summer, consider a cropped white jean that ends two to three inches above your ankle.

2. The material of white jeans is important

Now that stretch denim is all over everyone’s butt, white jeans need to be a little more careful. Stick to 95% or higher of cotton for your white jeans. This will give you a little bit of stretch but not enough to pull and pucker your butt, which is not flattering on white pants. Also, make sure the material is really thick. Some white jeans are see-through, which is the opposite of what you want!

3. Clean lines with minimal fuss

I’m talking about the shape of your clothing you’re going to wear with your white jeans; the proportions, the color, and the texture. For example, in some of my white jeans outfits I’m going to go for cropped denim jackets that accentuate my waistline rather than ones that end at the hips which would make my jeans look wider. Think about the proportions, the balance, the color and the fit.

4. Shirts in or out?

When it comes to white jeans, I suggest keeping your shirt mostly out. Tucking it in adds bulk, and the color of your shirt can show through the fabric. Plus, white pants tend to add a lot of visual weight to your butt, and tucking a shirt in and wearing a belt only accentuates that area. So leave your shirt unbuttoned, or tuck a corner inside for a bit of flair.

5. make sure to select a pair that is not distressed and a classic cut

Elevate your white jeans by pairing them with a sharp button-up top or a stunning bright flowy skirt. For footwear, opt for a pair of classic pointy-toed flats to show off your legs or add a touch of height with pointy toed heels.

Here are some outfit ideas to help you create the perfect outfit for your white jeans.

If you’re looking to create dressy outfits with jeans, take these four points into consideration when putting together your outfit.

1. Choose the right pair of white jeans

Go with the cut that you’re comfortable with. If you prefer straight leg, go with straight leg. If you prefer boot cut, go with boot cut. I typically wear straight leg jeans or skinny jeans. It’s my go-to style and I’ll stick to it.

Don’t forget to make sure they fit right. White jeans tend to make you look a bit wider than you actually are, so make sure you’re getting the perfect fit. I’ll admit it, I’ve said it before, but it really is important.

2. Select a dressy shirt

Since we are going for a formal look, choose a shirt that is “nice.” Look for a lace shirt, chiffon shirt, silk shirt, or something similar. You want to pair your white jeans with a dressier than casual shirt. You don’t want a dressy shirt that you think is too dressy.

3. Wear dressy shoes

Adding colour to your footwear is a great way to add a splash of colour to your outfit. For example, if you are wearing white jeans with a nice black shirt, then you can add some colour to your shoes. You can choose from fuchsia colours, gold colours, blue colours, or your favourite colour. If you are wearing a dressy pair of flats or heels, make sure you are wearing pointy toe shoes, as they make you look taller and slimmer.

4. Complete the look with accessories

Gold jewellery is a great way to add some warmth to this winter look. This white jeans outfit is more of a classic minimal look, so I went for gold earrings and necklace, gold bracelet, gold rings and even a gold crossbody with gold chain. I didn’t hold back with the accessories! The blouse is high neckline, so I can wear a long gold chain necklace that matches the black blouse perfectly.

What to Wear with White Jeans – A Dressed Up Outfit

White is verboten in the winter, but that’s not to say it can’t be worn in November and February. Denim is a durable fabric, so it’ll stand up to the colder months. Pair it with a long sleeve colour-candy tee and a cosy white and black oversized cardigan, or go for a light grey turtleneck with a black leather Biker jacket. For a more casual look, ditch your flats and opt for knee-high, booty, or ankle boots. If you can wear them with blue jeans, they can probably be worn with white jeans.

Now that we’ve covered how to style white jeans, and how to wear them all season long, let’s move on to the outfit ideas! In the following sections, you’ll find ideas on what to wear with your white jeans in Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. I’ve broken each outfit down by season, so it’s easy to jump to the one you need inspiration for, or you can browse and pin your favorite outfits for next time!

If you’re looking for a way to instantly stand out from the crowd, pair your white jeans with an off-the-shoulder light blue Tie-Dye tank top. This color combination is perfect for a night out with the girls, or a date night with your best friend. In this outfit, you’ll be wearing a bright Tie-Dye Tank Top in a variety of shades of blue, along with matching Sandals and a Patent Handbag. You’re beginning to see that white and blue are a great combo!

If you don’t want to wear all white, you can try this white jeans look. It’s a mix of white jeans and neutrals. This white jeans outfit is perfect for pairing with a pair of nude pumps. You’ll want to layer it out a bit, as the sweater has lots of texture and can look great on its own, but you’ll need to layer it up a bit too. A denim jacket or a white blazer would be a great addition to this outfit.
