Prada always reveals their influence in the fashion world. They have been creating and marketing exquisitely produced and innovative handbags, clothing, shoes, and accessories for men, women, and even kids for more than 100 years.

It is a brand that has come to be associated with high-end items and never fails to disappoint. We’ll explore all there is to know about Prada in this article, including their history, bags, and many more.

The History Of Prada

Mario Prada

Prada has existed for more than a century. In 1913, Mario Prada founded the House of Prada. Its first store began operating at the renowned Galleria Vittorio Emmanuele II in Milan. Travel gear, trunks, steamers, and other leather goods were first offered in this first establishment, which was owned and operated by Mario Prada.

The company gained notoriety in 1919 when it received the prestigious designation of Official Supplier of the Italian Royal House, or the Italian royal family. Just like that, Prada had a new logo.

The House of Savoy coat of arms is depicted on the distinctive triangle that serves as the Prada emblem. This is an hommage to the Italian nobility. Prada has used this logo for more than 100 years of operation.

The Growth Of Prada

A peek into prada's legacy

Even though Prada had established itself in the luxury sector by the time Luisa’s daughter Miuccia Prada took the helm, it would be some time before this brand became well-known to the general public. In 1970, Miuccia Prada became a member of the Prada family and started creating high-end handbags and luggage for the company. Soon after, Patrizio Bertelli and Miuccia Prada got to know one another and started working together in 1977. Bertelli joined Prada, and he and Miuccia worked tirelessly to usher in a new era for the fashion house.

In 1979, the two of them introduced a popular brand of high-end shoes. This time, Prada’s boutiques also started to gain notoriety for their streamlined appearances and distinctive shade of green, which became known as Prada Green. Stores for Prada quickly opened in Paris, London, and Tokyo.

A womenswear collection by Prada and Bertelli that was characterized by low waistlines and skinny belts was first released in the 1980s. It was a resounding success that helped Prada establish itself as the household name today.

About Miuccia Prada

Miuccia prada

Miuccia Prada, whose real name is Maria Bianchi, is the head fashion designer and CEO of the upscale leather goods company, Prada. The company’s history officially began When Mario Prada and his brother Giuseppe established their first leather store in Milan in 1913.

When it was a success, they became the Royal House Savoy’s suppliers. In 1958, The mother of Miuccia Prada, Luisa Prada, acquired their store. This was after it had survived both World Wars.

Prada was a little firm with just one remaining boutique when Miuccia Prada took charge. Nobody anticipated that a revolution would alter the company’s whole course. As head designer with Bertelli, she started making efforts to revitalise the company.

One of her initial ideas was to design a line of unbranded purses out of the then-uncommon Pocono nylon fabric, which was usually used to make military tents. However, the 1979 introduction of the line did not immediately make it popular.

In the 1980s, Miuccia started to expand the company globally with the opening of additional stores beginning in 1983 and a shoe line in 1984. In 1985, she relaunched her Pocono handbag line, revamping it to include a gold chain strap and the triangle logo emblem that would later become the brand’s symbol.

Everyone around the world knows the name Prada. A few lesser companies, including Car Shoe, Pasticceria Marchesi, Miu Miu, and Chruch’s, have been bought by the company. They have had a real impact on the foundation of the fashion world.
